Falles Bagot Road Garage, the well-known and long established local Renault dealer, recently secured a new car dealership to complement its range. Great Wall Motors is one of China’s leading car manufacturers, and among the fastest growing automotive brands in the world. It’s an arrangement that means Jersey car buyers will have a chance to experience some of the eastern promise that has already made a significant impression in Great Wall’s home market and more than 60 countries worldwide.
Great Wall Motors, which has been manufacturing cars since 1976, has recently been winning friends and admirers among western motoring journalists and commentators. This is particularly in response to the Steed Double Cab pickup range, which has proved top of the range when it comes to features, but at a price that places it firmly in the value for money category.

It’s these factors that led Falles Bagot Road to obtain the dealership, and which they think will strongly appeal to local motorists. ‘We are thrilled to have secured the Great Wall brand for Jersey after considerable negotiation.’ said Craig Seager, MD at Falles Bagot Road Garage, ‘There has been a lot of interest in China’s car manufacturers for some time now, which is perhaps understandable given the way the economy and consumer demand there is developing. But their ambitious plans to compete in Western markets are certainly starting to make people take notice. Companies such as Great Wall Motors have really developed some excellent vehicles, and at prices which make great value for money for local buyers.’
Bagot Road Garage has a starting price for the Steed pickup at £14,998 on the road. This includes leather interior, Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone connectivity, steering wheel audio controls, individually heated front seats and Alpine CD/USB/RDS radio with four surround sound speakers. Such is the confidence in the new brand that the garage are investing in a new showroom at the Bagot Road premises to present the Great Wall vehicles in their best light. ‘It’s part of a general redevelopment of the site,’ explained Craig, ‘which includes a new Great Wall showroom where we previously just had garage space. It’s going to make such a difference for our customers.’
